Boston College: Ecoscenario Project
The
goal of this field study, which targets middle school students,
is to introduce students to procedures for studying their local
environment through hands-on investigations that can be carried
out on-site. Students will use handheld devices equipped with Geographic
Information System software to
- Create ecological resource maps of the site
- Collect data on the health and location of street trees and diversity of urban bird life
- Examine the chemical condition of the soil and water found on their study site
