The 2008 Summer Institute (July 7th—July 31st ) is hosted by Boston College. During this institute you will:

- Have opportunities to try out and experiment with the curriculum materials with students
- Learn how to use information technologies to support your students in the study of urban ecology field science
- Use Tablet PCs and GIS technologies
- Conduct field-based scientific studies that you can do in your own schoolyard
- Have the possibility of earning course credit through Boston College
- Earn professional development points
- Receive a $700 stipend/week (a week is four days as the summer institute meets Mondays - Thursdays - so you get Friday off!)

The summer institute can be taken as course credit as ED551 under the direction of Dr. Eric Strauss, director of the Environmental Studies Program.
The institute starts on July 7th and ends on July 31st 2008 and goes from 8:30am to 3:30pm Monday—Thursday. The first two weeks of the institute will be limited to in- and pre-service teachers. The next two weeks (if you choose to participate) will include 5-6 students where you will have the opportunity to experiment and explore how to implement the curriculum projects with students.
